Mule Trading Active Assignment Weekly: May 24 – May 31 ASSIGNMENT Never Land DESCRIPTION As a student, I loved to take walks with my camera and find new places to shoot. Often I’d find myself in places that I had never been before and never knew existed. It was both an adventure and a great way to improve my photography eye. For this assignment go somewhere that you have never been before and just take pictures. It doesn’t have to be far or special. It can be a street you have never turned down, a house or apartment you have never visited or a town you have never been. Here are a few ways to decide where to go: Go to google maps, zoom appropriately and point with your mouse and go there, if you have never been there. Invite yourself over to a friend’s house that you have never visited. Step outside and walk in a direction until you find something new. Of course, stay safe and avoid war zones, bad neighborhoods and disaster areas etc… You are encouraged to bring back a story of adventure or some information about where you went. Hopefully with 2 weekends, this assignment won’t be an imposition. RESTRICTIONS The photo should be relatively spontaneous. No extensive planning or setup. Use your own judgement. Or for those who have to have a rule no thinking for more than 5 minutes before taking the shot. WIT: When I first saw this assignment I was hopeful that an upcoming business trip would provide all the material I needed. The downside was that the trip was too much business and not enough free time around places with character. I did manage to get this shot of Americana while in route from St. Louis to Rolla, Missouri. I could have spent all day taking photos along that route. Time has slowed down in Missouri and the past is still everywhere. In originally took the photo in portrait to get more clouds in the shot but decided to crop it landscape to put more focus on the trading post. Some contrast and levels adjustments in PSE. The hyper-active trade at Ramnagara Silk Market Ramanagara is famous for its silk market, one of the biggest in India, giving it the other name of Silktown. Silkworm cucoons are brought here by the farmers and sold to companies who process them to get silk. There are 2 types of silk cucoons - Yellow and White. The white cucoons fetch higher price than the yellow ones, both because of the quality and size. Also these people adopt rotation policy in acquiring place within the market. I took this pic early morning when the trade was in full-swing. The trade happens by bidding through a contractor (also a villager) unanimously selected. It amazing fun to see this trade :) Its so fast that the entire silk market trade is carried out by these people in a couple of hours :) Ramnagara, known as Closepet in pre-independence times is the same "Ramgadh" village terrorised by Gabbar in "Sholay" (the most popular and cult film in Indian Cinema) :) See also: is silver a good investment 2011 trade and investment barriers investing apartment buildings endowment investment jobs social investing companies 1001 of the american recovery and investment act of 2011 investment solutions consultants |
